‘40 Acres’ to screen at Capri Theater, reimagining the apocalypse through Black resilience

Capri Theatre will show “40 Acres” as March’s “First Thursday Films” series, a monthly program that combines films with community conversation. The screening will be followed by a discussion.
Directed by R.T. Thorne, “40 Acres” centers on a blended, intergenerational Black and Indigenous family fighting to survive in a world filled with plague and war. Living on a farm passed down through generations, the family must defend their land while preserving the knowledge and culture that keeps them alive. At the center of the story is a powerful family dynamic.
“It’s really sort of a mother and son story. It’s a generational story,” Thorne said.
