The Scene

Wednesday, May 7, 2025

Hello everyone, I don’t feel the need to be sentimental because I will still be at The Daily. In fact, you will be hearing from me more soon. But let’s focus on the future and what A&E has for you this week.

In the spotlight, Sophia Arndt wrote a review of Marvel’s newest movie, “Thunderbolts*.” In more movie news, Gabriel Brito reviewed “Rust,” a movie starring Alec Baldwin. Isabella Caswell gave a rundown of concerts coming up in May. Sophia Arndt also wrote about Manners and Misconduct, an improv group that takes inspiration from Jane Austen novels.

That’s all we have this week for you at The Scene.

Marvel is back and ‘Thunderbolts*’ is actually good

by Sophia Arndt | Published May 6, 2025

After the release of “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, I strongly felt Marvel movies had dwindled in quality. With the exception of the Disney+ shows “WandaVision” and “Moon Knight,” I hadn’t been interested in watching anything Marvel in years.

So when the trailer for “Thunderbolts*” released, I was hesitant to get excited when I had been left disappointed by so many releases in the past few years.

‘Rust’ makes the Wild West seem boring

By Gabriel Brito | “Rust,” a disappointingly slow, brooding, hyper-stylized Western released in theatres last Friday.

Stacked lineup of concerts this May

By Isabella Caswell | From Mayhem Fest to Hippo Campus to Katy Perry, there are lots of ways to enjoy live music in the Twin Cities this May.

Manners and Misconduct reimagines Jane Austen through improvisation

By Sophia Arndt | Based on the famous novels of romance author Jane Austen, Manners and Misconduct celebrates female-centered stories and improvised comedy.
