The Rouser

September 21, 2025

Long time no see Rouser readers!

This my first ever Rouser after taking over as sports editor, I hope you enjoy! Our previous editor, Champ, has moved on from the Daily but is missed (no more hearing about the Lakers though!!). I’ll do my best to bring the same dedication.

Fall sports are back! Exciting stuff, lots of good stories on the success of volleyball and soccer. There will be plenty more throughout the season if they keep performing the way they are now.

Bye week for Gophers football, so no story on them this week. I suggest going back and reading our Koi Perich feature by Regan Guirguis to remember the good times. I did a Q&A for the Daily Californian about the UC Berkley game, the team did not bring back the win like I predicted, hopefully they can use this bye week to get back on track for Rutgers.

Go Gophers,

Gophers volleyball starters adjust as the season progresses

by Regan Guirguis | Published September 14, 2025

The only game the No. 13-ranked Gophers have lost so far was against No. 9 Texas A&M. It was a four-set match that the Aggies took with a three-set win.

Texas A&M is the only ranked team the Gophers have played so far, and they were also the first game of the season. Head coach Keegan Cook said they wanted to start the season with the highest standard of what the best looks like.

“Now we know what to aim for,” Cook said. “Just giving our team a vision, win or lose.”

Cook added that they wanted to play a team they might possibly see in the playoffs.

The Golden Bears led for most of the game after scoring a touchdown in the first quarter. The Gophers were able to tie the game with a 1-yard rush from graduate student Cam Davis.
