With postseason pressure and the season on the line, the Gophers leaned on their senior experience to pull them through. The game was far from offensively smooth, with Minnesota shooting only 27.8% during the first half, but their defensive pressure kept them in the game while their upperclassmen led with composure to shift the tone.
They stayed within reach despite their shooting struggles. Graduate center Sophie Hart’s inside the paint work paired with senior guard Amaya Battle’s consistent scoring helped keep the deficit manageable, the team trailing only 29-26 after the first half.
