Happy Wednesday, I hope your finals season is going as well as it can be. Also, I would like to petition that people need to come up with more unique questions to ask college graduates. “What are your plans after graduation?” is so tiring and panic-inducing. Today, city desk covers a bill Minnesota lawmakers are pushing to combat fraud. Sports highlights a standout Gopher gymnast, who is only a freshman. And if you have not picked it up yet, it is satire week on the opinions desk, so we have more of that for you.

Minnesota lawmakers pushing new bills to fight fraud

The Minnesota House has passed a bill to address suspected fraud in public programs, aiming to make it easier for the state to stop fraud before it grows.
Rep. Ginny Klevorn (DFL-Plymouth) said the legislation focuses on acting quickly when fraud is suspected.
“The backstory of this bill is taking the lessons we learned and putting them permanently into law,” Klevorn said.
This would allow the state to pause payments when there is a credible allegation of fraud on services such as childcare assistance and disability support, Klevorn said, while investigators review whether fraud occurred.
“We want to make sure people don’t lose their services,” Klevorn said.
