I am so glad it is Friday. Maybe this is the weekend, I get a normal amount of sleep. Maybe I will have time to read a book or watch a movie. The weekend is my oyster, I have so many opportunities.
And you have the opportunity to read City and Opinions desk stories. You can learn about the UMN recycling center from our Campus desk. We have much more for you, but I don’t want to spoil anything.
Stay golden,

Minneapolis City Council moves forward with research to discuss bathhouses
by Trevor Dunning | Senior City Reporter | Published April 23, 2026
Minneapolis banned adult bathhouses in 1988 — and the city council is considering bringing them back.
The city banned bathhouses during the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and ‘90s, proposed as a way to stop the spread. With the proposal, some members of the community feel it could be detrimental to public health and safety. Others argue that legalizing them would create safety.
“It’s completely unregulated and happening in the shadows,” council member Jason Chavez (ward 9) said during a city council meeting. “It’s happening across the city in ways that we don’t fully know.”
