Where is your happy place? I can certainly tell you where mine isn’t: sitting in my apartment in 100-degree heat with an AC unit that barely works. While I’d never wish for the tundra of winter, it’s hard to imagine it could be much worse than this. Hopefully, you’ve got somewhere cool to be and some time to relax. While you sit back, maybe give some of our stories a read. To open this week, we hear from the last University board meeting of the summer, examine the hustle and bustle of Collect-A-Con and delve into how Gopher football is handling a surplus of new faces. The University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents and University representatives wrapped up their final meeting for the summer on July 22, discussing how changes to federal policies may affect the University and what administrators see for the future of higher education in Minnesota.

At the meeting, President Rebecca Cunningham shared the University’s support of students and scholars in her presidential report, after a United States Department of Homeland Security visa rule change and a proposed Office of Management and Budget change to federal grant review have left many community members struggling.
