Good morning ruffians,
Happy Monday. Hope your Spring break was magical, not tragical. Whatever the case, it’s time to get back into the swing of things with a crisp morning newspaper.
For city, the Graduate gets its liquor license renewed, businesses face losses from ICE, and a gun bill stalls in the legislature. On campus, read about the new USG admin and for sports read about the end of the WHL season in a quarterfinals loss to Northwestern.
Yeah, we out here cooking. We need you in the kitchen though — so get to reading.
Very Respectfully,

by Sara Hussein | Campus Reporter | Published March 6, 2026
The University of Minnesota Undergraduate Student Government announced Fatima Aden and Izaan Rana as the new president and vice president, who will replace current incumbents Riley Hetland and Ethan Fiegel. They defeated William Luther and Charley Rathgeber by a vote of 642 to 312.
Prior to the USG elections, Aden and Rana held roles as speaker of the forum and director of student group representatives. Their campaign included four pillars for their campaign: public safety, affordability, representation and student group agency.
Aden has been involved with USG for multiple years and has developed skills on making a difference as a student herself.
