Wow! Big news this week as we see the University’s Board of Regents extend President Cunningham’s contract to 2031, adding over $2 million in incentives for her in the process. On Wednesday, the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents voted 10-1 to extend President Rebecca Cunningham’s contract through 2031. 

At the July 22 Board meeting, the amendment to Cunningham’s employee agreement was presented to the public, including an extension of her employment contract by two years, which now runs to June 30, 2031. The amendment also includes financial incentives of over $2.1 million for Cunningham based on performance and retention.

In an email statement, the University said, though Cunningham faced difficulties in her time as president, she has developed a long-term vision for the University.
