Daily Breakdown

Good morning everyone!
Cloudflare was down today, which means there was a bit of a delay with our website and newsletter. Fear not — the fickle connectivity gods have freshly blessed our network traffic, and our Daily bread should reach you without issue.
On city, read all about St. Paul’s annual “Shop by Candlelight” event. For sports, Chloe Primerano is making a push for the Olympics in hockey, and catch up on dance, basketball and football. Scroll down and give some politically relevant opinion pieces too, why don’t’cha.
We publish daily, but have goodies new and old. Rejoice, and stretch those peepers.
Godspeed,
Sam Hill | Managing Editor | [email protected]

Shop by Candlelight brings festivity and customer traffic to Selby Avenue

Rows of small paper luminaries glowed along Selby Avenue on Thursday night, as St. Paul residents turned out for the annual Shop by Candlelight event.
Organized by the Selby-Snelling Area Business Association, the tradition encourages local stores to extend hours into the evening, offering discounts, special treats and surprises and music to create a festive holiday atmosphere.
Jill Erickson, owner of the sustainable boutique Spoils of Wear and co-owner of Leo Footwear, highlighted the magnitude of the event for the local shop owners.
“We’ve been planning it for a couple months. It’s our biggest shopping event of the year,” Erickson said.
Erickson said the event has taken place on the street for about 13 years. In past Novembers, shoppers have braved wind, cold and snow to participate.
