After months of failed negotiations, Minneapolis teachers have reached a deal
by Maya Bell | City Reporter | Published Nov. 9, 2025
After fear of a strike, the Minneapolis Federation of Educators, Local 59 and the Minneapolis Public School District have reached a tentative agreement, according to a statement from MPS.
MPS renegotiates contracts with teachers’ unions every two years. MPS spokesperson Megan Boldt said negotiations for the latest renewal started in April, after the district said they could not agree on certain areas. Discussions continued for seven months.
According to the MFE statement, the three bargaining concerns were met at last night’s meeting but no details have been shared. The members of the MFE will vote at a later date to ratify the deal.
