Rise and grind Gophers,

It’s Tuesday. And like an industrial tub of Costco yogurt, our Tuesday newsletter is drowning in culture, with four A&E stories to aestheticize and entertain you.

On City, federal funding is lagging for early education centers. For Arts & Entertainment, we have stories about the Grinch, Straight No Chaser, the Twin Cities book festival and a local women’s community swap and shop. For Women’s Basketball, Mara Braun is back and balling harder then ever.

Quite frankly, there’s more here then I could summarize. It’s fabulous. Make like a plant and go reed some stories.

Very Respectfully,

Sam Hill | Managing Editor | [email protected]

Head Start: A lifeline for Hennepin County families amidst federal uncertainty

by Shay Scanlan | City Reporter | Published Nov. 10, 2025

In Greater Minnesota, some Head Start early education program centers are being forced to rely on state funding, as federal funding lags amidst the government shutdown.

Head Start, a nationwide early childhood education program celebrating its 60th anniversary, serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years old coming from families living below the poverty line.

The program provides free education, meals and health support. Each family works with a parent-child advocate who helps connect them with food, housing and employment resources.
