Daily Breakdown
Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Happy Wednesday! I am sorry to report that there is no news. We ran out.
Just kidding, that is not possible. There is always something new to report on. I will say, it is weird that it is April because that means the semester is almost over. And that isn’t terrifying to think of AT ALL, especially since I am a senior. But whether or not you think life is suddenly moving too fast or not, we have something to grab your attention.
If you live in Dinkytown and your power was weird yesterday, we have a story that explains what happened. If you have thoughts on people’s dating standards, we have an opinions column for you. If you want to learn a bit about the UMN branch of the Zero Burn Coalition, we have a story for you.
Stay golden,

Rollover Dinkytown car crash knocks down powerlines, leaving residents without power
by Casey Marble | Video Reporter | Published March 31, 2026
Several blocks of Dinkytown lost power Tuesday morning after a rollover car crash knocked over a utility pole, according to witnesses and police on the scene.
Police, along with the roughly 30-foot-long utility pole, blocked off 12th Avenue SE to traffic as Xcel Energy crews worked to safely remove the pole and reroute power.
In an emailed statement to the Daily, Xcel Energy spokesperson Josiah Mayo said around 12 customers lost power, and power should be restored by 8 p.m.
“Our crews responded quickly to the scene to assess the damage and are making repairs as quickly and safely as possible,” Mayo said.
