Good morning everyone,

Reading an MN Daily story is like having a cooler full of good ideas in the back forty. Everyone can start out, but only some can truly embrace the knowledge it brings.

Top story is a Black History Month standout memorializing Minnesota’s school integration efforts. On city, the Minneapolis city council is approving business funding as ICE activity strains Minneapolis schools. On campus, student dialogue on ICE activity. On arts, it’s the year of the horse at Mia.

If you don’t check out what we have today, then you ain’t from the woods.

Warm regards,

In celebration and honor of 100 years of Black History Month, St. Paul Public Library gathered community members to reflect, connect and learn about a piece of Minnesota history that is often left untold.

As part of Black History Month’s Doc-N-Dine event, featured filmmaker and educator Derek Francis, whose short documentary “Separate Not Equal” explores school integration in Minneapolis through the lens of individuals who experienced it firsthand.

The event was part of the library’s Celebrating 100 Years of Black History Commemorations series.

“This year makes it 55 years since Hale and Field paired, and so many people who have lived here their entire life don’t have an idea that this happened,” Francis said.
