Gov. Tim Walz drops out of Governor’s race

Gov. Tim Walz announced in a statement on X he was dropping out of the Minnesota governor’s race today to focus on the state, no longer running for a third term.

“Every minute I spend defending my own political interests would be a minute I can’t spend defending the people of Minnesota against the criminals who prey on our generosity and the cynics who prey on our differences,” Walz said. 

Walz said in a press conference on Monday that he does not want to run for a third term because he didn’t want to take away from governing Minnesota. Walz claimed Minnesota state republicans are turning the recent fraud situation into a political game
