UMN USG elects Fatima Aden and Izaan Rana as new president and vice president

The University of Minnesota Undergraduate Student Government announced Fatima Aden and Izaan Rana as the new president and vice president Friday, who will replace current incumbents Riley Hetland and Ethan Fiegel. They defeated William Luther and Charley Rathgeber by a vote of 642 to 312.

Prior to the USG election’s, Aden and Rana held roles as speaker of the forum and director of student group representatives. Their campaign included four pillars for their campaign: public safety, affordability, representation and student group agency. 

Aden has been involved with USG for a multiple and has developed skills on making a difference as a student herself.
